So if I had one room clean at a time, I was doing very well! And you are right, we need to offer hospitality anyway. We make the place as tidy and germ-free as we can, and hope our guests view the toys as part of the charm. And if the house is too perfect, it looks sterile, and very few people are comfortable in a sterile environment. :)Nancy Samplehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02717661030804396398noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4630295036045913064.post-51478379649830635722012-11-16T18:30:20.085-08:002012-11-16T18:30:20.085-08:00Thank you for that reminder. And when we find that balance, I think we have found the way to offer true hospitality. :)Nancy Samplehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02717661030804396398noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4630295036045913064.post-6897871338874175032012-11-14T13:37:36.382-08:002012-11-14T13:37:36.382-08:00Great thoughts! I admit it's hard to not be a "Martha", so cumbered about with making sure the house is spotless, menu perfectly planned and then prepared. When I think about it I feel a little uncomfortable when I go to peoples house and find it perfect to the point of unnatural. I need to remind myself that our company has come to see us not a kids room with every toy perfectly organized. Who with kids has a toy room like that(but for the first 2 minutes after they've been organized?!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03426654632442256255noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4630295036045913064.post-25690274805963971982012-11-14T13:33:12.597-08:002012-11-14T13:33:12.597-08:00I feel most at home at a host's house when I f...I feel most at home at a host's house when I feel that I am not an inconvenience. It is difficult to pinpoint exactly what contributes to feeling "in the way." I suppose that the host's attitudes are the root. I have stayed in small houses where people had to take turns in the bathroom and sleep on pallets, yet I felt very welcome. Other times, I have stayed with hosts who had whole floors unoccupied for my family's use, but I still felt awkward. I think it was more to do with how cheerfully the host was to adapt to the changes in their routine. Thank you for the wonderful post! Hospitality is so important! I am reminded of the verse that states "Some have entertained angels and have been unaware..." I wouldn't want to be a poor host to an angel! -Carissa BEmmaWoodhouse https://www.blogger.com/profile/05211860754100232731noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4630295036045913064.post-10928289583903107522012-10-11T05:47:45.386-07:002012-10-11T05:47:45.386-07:00Sounds like a super trip! In the three hours that we were there, we saw the desert animals, nocturnal, gorillas, cats, bears, birds, giraffes (I guess I thought the baby giraffe would be much bigger, seeing that it was born in March...I wonder how long it is until they are full grown....), seals, and probably more that I'm forgetting. We also spent a lot of time playing at the Fossil Dig Site, and petting and brushing the goats :) Wish we would have had time for the aquarium and lied jungle and butterfly exhibit. Next time! <br />Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03426654632442256255noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4630295036045913064.post-48960073789219739532012-10-08T13:59:38.008-07:002012-10-08T13:59:38.008-07:00Thanks for your comment! We bought a season pass this year and love going as family and also joining up with friends for a "play day". We're looking forward to seeing how much the baby giraffes have grown. And sitting down for lunch with the prairie dogs again. The last time we were there they shared our food and were climbing all over us. :)Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03426654632442256255noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4630295036045913064.post-72680603864538821592012-09-08T08:09:12.397-07:002012-09-08T08:09:12.397-07:00Autumn is my favorite season too Nancy!
